I'm happy to reveal that I have two upcoming audio books. The first is an abridged version of Neil Oliver's Amazing Tales for Making Men Out Of Boys, which is rather a long title but good stuff nevertheless. It's a good old fashioned compilation of tales of manly men and their remarkable accomplishments through history.
Scott of the Antarctic, the men of the Birkenhead and the astronauts of Apollo 13 are just three of the extraordinary stories brought to life. The kind of book a father reads to his son. As the author states in the opening, "there was a time when boys were taught to be men" and this is just the sort of book to help them on that path.
The second book is entirely different. An international thriller reminiscent of The Da Vinci Code, The Genesis Secret by Tom Knox centers around journalist Robert Luttrell, who is sent to cover an archeological dig in Turkey, but soon becomes wrapped up in something far more sinister and deadly. Bizarre murders are being committed in the UK and soon we discover that Luttrell's story is inextricably and terrifyingly linked. The Genesis Secret is a captivating read and, with its large cast of characters, was a real treat to narrate. More news when these audiobooks are available for download.
Oh yeah, and you can catch me on the CW's 90210 tonight at 9pm playing, you guessed it, another creepy guy. I look a little like Nineties James Spader in this one. Wasn't a good look then and still isn't. But hey - director Jason Priestley did choose which glasses I got to wear, so...

I'm not going to lie. The Genesis Secret really caught my attention. o.0 One more book to add to my "read at Barnes and Noble" list. Looks like I will be hiding under some tables tomorrow to read. ;)

Since I'm lacking the necessarily equipment, I don't think I'd be too interested in the first one, but I'd love to hear when The Genesis Secret is available. I've been on an audio book kick lately (great for in the car), so I'd love to pick that one up. I've also been finding that on an audio book, the voice actor makes all the difference. I just finished Duma Key, and John Slattery's narration really made the book. In fact, I may pick up other audio books that he's worked on.

I agree with MzHartz on that subject. The voice actor makes all the difference for audio books. Every once in a while you will find one that isn't quite up to snuff, but overall they normally pick great people for the readings.

I don't know about everyone else, but I actually get 90210 on tonight at 9pm. (Glad I was looking through the Dish program guide to have it record.) o.0 I am confused. It will record it tonight but it also states that the episode "Originally Aired: 4/08/2009" which is tomorrow.

woops. right you are, bree. dunno why i thought wednesday. only just started the week and already i'm losing a day! and mzhartz- genesis is the second fiction audio book, although the first big unabridged one (a wopping 368 pages). the other was a short story called halflead bay. have a good week all, gid.

Link is for anyone interested in "Playing the Enemy" also narrated by Gideon Emery. Very interesting biography, clearly narrated which means I can understand every word even over a 475hp diesel engine!! Awesome!!

I saw that one M. Owl, but I'm more into fiction, I'm not sure how much it would interest me. And finding The Boat in audiobook format is proving difficult. So far I've only been able to find it on Audible, and they use DRM protection to the point where I don't think I could listen to it in my car.

I'll have to look for the other two sometime. Not like I have the money to get them right now but I can find out where they are. XP I think I might have to wait for "The Genesis Secret" though. The price online for "Playing the Enemy" scares me. o.0 lol. Then the site is having difficulty finding "The Boat." I'm sure both are great though. haha.
